Tom Berezny, Green Valley/Sahuarita Representative for County Supervisor Steven Christy, told us how county governance works. His organization chart for the county put the taxpayers at the top.
Throughout his talk he emphasized that the job of representatives like him is to handle community concerns, so they live in the communities they represent. So he works with Chris Ashcraft at CPAC and people at La Posada, Posada Life, GVR, Santa Cruz Valley Regional Hospital, the Chamber of Commerce, and so on. Public works include things like roads, clearing washes, maintaining Canoa Trail, and such. County Supervisor Steve Christy, he said, is not involved with day-to-day issues. He added that Administrator Chuck Huckleberry is in the hospital and so his work is handled by Chief Deputy County Administrator Jan Lesher.
